Apple Upgrade iPhone Duo Lease Pricing
Apple lists iPhone Duo from $57.99 per month for 24 monthsor $82.99 per month for 12 months. Apple identifies this as a consumer lease, not a purchase or loan. Prices exclude taxes and any trade-in credit, and approval is based on eligibility and creditworthiness.
The first monthly payment is due approximately 30 days after the device ships or becomes available for pickup. Apple does not allow an added down payment to reduce the monthly lease payment.
iPhone Duo Lease vs Buy / Finance
Apple Upgrade is a lease with return and purchase-option rules. Apple Card Monthly Installments is purchase financing: the installment payments fund ownership of the phone. Neither option should be treated as a device discount.

12-Month vs 24-Month Lease
The 24-month option has the lower advertised monthly payment but keeps the initial lease open longer. The 12-month option reaches the scheduled return, upgrade, or purchase decision sooner. Monthly payment alone does not establish which option has the lower total cost for your situation.
What Happens at the End of the Lease?
At the end of the initial term, Apple says you can return the device and upgrade, return it and leave Apple Upgrade, or buy it with a one-time payment through Klarna. Returned devices must be in good working condition to avoid a damage fee.
If you take no action, the lease can continue month-to-month for up to six months. Apple documents a later purchase charge if no action is taken by the end of that extension period.
Can You Buy the iPhone Duo During the Lease?
Yes. Apple says you can purchase the device during the lease through Klarna. The purchase option is based on the list price and applicable taxes at lease signing, minus lease payments already made and any remaining trade-in credits.
Can You Upgrade Early?
Apple permits an early upgrade after you pay all remaining monthly payments plus applicable taxes. You must return the current device in good working condition. Ending the lease early follows a similar remaining-payment rule.
Trade-In and Apple Upgrade
An eligible device can be traded in when you first enroll. Klarna applies the credit across payments during the initial lease term. Apple says the credit applies only to that initial term and that you cannot trade in another device when upgrading through the lease.
Check current valuation rules in the iPhone Duo trade-in guide.
Apple Upgrade vs the Old iPhone Upgrade Program
Apple describes Apple Upgrade as a new Klarna-provided lease. It separately says the older iPhone Upgrade Program is coming to an end and directs existing participants to sign in and review their individual status and next steps. The two programs should not be treated as interchangeable.
Who Should Lease iPhone Duo?
Apple Upgrade may suit a buyer who expects to return or replace the device, accepts the condition requirements, and values a lower scheduled monthly payment more than automatic ownership at the end of the term.
Who Should Buy / Finance Instead?
Paying in full or using purchase financing may be clearer for someone who intends to keep, sell, or trade the phone on their own schedule. Compare current seller terms in the deals trackerand ordering details in the preorder guide.
